Texas Needs An Attorney General Who Will Fight for Consumers

Democratic candidates for AG should not wait to start protecting Texans. They can and should start going into court right now.

Contracts that allow utilities to invade Texans privacy to manipulate technology, in our homes, should not be permitted. The fine print on these consumer contracts is deceptive and should not be allowed. If they can turn up our thermostats remotely, what else can they do? Whatever it is, it should not be legally permissible.

ERCOT is a state created entity that should be subject to the State’s Open Records and Open Meetings laws. ERCOT should not have sovereign immunity unless the Texas Legislature or Texas voters grant it.

Governor Abbott’s use of Texas taxpayers’ money to take on a federal responsibility is a misuse and abuse of taxpayers’ money. The state money Abbott wants to spend on the border should instead be used to help fix the grid and build broadband, in rural Texas.

This is especially ironic as Republicans in our state have refused to accept federal funds to expand healthcare, in Texas, but are now willing to spend state taxpayers’ money to do the federal government’s job. You can’t make this stuff up.

Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) software algorithms must not be allowed to discriminate.

Banks, no matter their size, large or small, should not be allowed to charge predatory fees.

Texans also need and deserve an AG who will fight for a just criminal justice system and justice in our civil justice system including suing to protect our right to vote and the integrity of the electoral college system to protect the 2024 presidential election and our democracy.

We need an AG who will not be afraid to sue to protect Texas families, children, our health and environment.
