Rabat – The EU-Africa Business Summit is set to return to Marrakech on November 28-29 for its annual event where influential business leaders, policymakers, and experts will gather to address policy challenges shaping the common future of the two continents.

Over two days, engaged parties will shift their focus on political, economic, social, and environmental issues to highlight business-related fields across Europe and Africa.

According to organizers, the summit will hold engaging debates, through high-level panel-discussions and inspiring sharing and steering sessions. The event will explore four main themes: “Africa’s Value Chain,” “Digital Transformation,” “Healthcare Innovation,” and “Green Transition.”

Arnaud Thysen, Director General of the European Business Summit, said in a statement to Morocco’s state news agency (MAP) that “several European Commissioners are actively supporting this summit.”

Speakers from important international institutions such as the African Development Bank (AfDB), the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will take part in the event to lead the dialogue toward a new framework that will facilitate exchange opportunities between the two continents.

With the European Commission showing constant support to the summit, the event aims to pursue its mission of promoting and facilitating EU-Africa trade and investments.

When asked about the choice of Morocco to host the summit, Thysen affirmed that the north African country plays a pivotal role in the future global economy and is both a regional economic hub and a gateway to Africa for many international investors.

The summit organizers said a multisectoral dialogue must be quickly consolidated at both the institutional and corporate levels to move towards an effective relationship between stakeholders from both continents.

They said the event will provide the ideal environment for over a hundred guests and 5000 participants online to discuss the future of economic relations between Africa and Europe.

Only VIP guests, speakers and partners will attend the in-person summit while participants are asked to join virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. All sessions will be live-streamed for free on the EU-Africa Business Summit site.
