Delta: Four arrested over alleged attack on Dangote truck, driver, conductor

A police patrol team from Illah Division, with the combined efforts of vigilantes, arrested four suspects in connection with the alleged attack of a Dangote truck as well as macheting of its driver and conductor along Illah-Asaba road in Delta State.

The four suspects include Ozioma Umez, Uchenna Idenyi, Chibuike Nwamgbo and Chiolada Nomha.

The police also recovered two cutlasses from the suspects.

The Delta State Police Command, led by CP Ari Mohammed Ali, confirmed the report in a statement signed by the acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.

The police image maker said the patrol team at Illah Division swung into action after it received a report from one Bature Ibrahim, a driver of Dangote company truck, that at about 0300hrs of the same date while trying to park his truck with Reg. DAS. 690 ZY, loaded with 900 bags of cement, at Okpella in Edo State, four armed men emerged from the bush, dragged him and his conductor into the bush, and gave them several machete cuts and tied them with rope then made away with the truck.

He said the police located the truck somewhere in Illah where it was parked at Aniegele along Illah-Asaba road.

According to him,”On sighting the patrol vehicle, the suspects jumped into the bush and took to their heels.”

He noted that the suspects were given a hot chase and arrested.
